What is your favourite hunting caliber and

Shot over 150 rounds through one in the last month. There are always tears from some about how much it hurts.

Built of stern stuff. Found it better to shoot than some 300 WMs I've come across but won't ever be a 150 a month guy lol.

Had put together a nice one on a 700 action with a Wenig stock and a Shilen barrel back when I was a kid. With the size of that rifle it was quite shootable. 26" barrel of magnum contour and a heavy enough piece of walnut. Probably about 8.5 lbs unscoped.

Being a country boy must be great. No desks. Computers. People. Just you, your gun and your backpack. Living the dream! With a sore shoulder mind you but even country folk have to make sacrifices. Or do they? Not sure. Because I live in the city.
Excuse me. My Starbucks order is now up. Great wifi here btw.

Best of both worlds is the only way to go.

Leave when you get tired of the city slickers and rat race/traffic.

Come back when you're cravin that soy latte. Half sweet of course.

Everyone assumes the 338 is a overbore meat waster, with too much recoil. Let's you know they've never shot one. Think of it as a 308 win pushing 250gr bullets.

If I had to choose....crazy talk. It would be a toss up between, 7x57, 30-06, and 338wm. Crazy thought, but one only 30-06.

I use and Iike the .303 British for any number of reasons , mostly because I get told on a continual basis that it is obsolete, not efficient enough or powerful enough as almost any other cartridge on the market .
Funny how at one time it was used ( and very sucsessfully used) for everything in North America and abroad but now it is somehow " underpowered "!Laugh2

So true. I’m not a big game hunter but am a collector and shooter of firearms for over 30 years. I see a bunch of old Lee Enfields that everyone says their grandpa bought for $7 out of a barrel in a sporting goods store, mine included. My grandpa and his buddies shot a moose or 2 every year with their stripped down Enfields and never had to track a single one. I think the best cartridge is the one with the energy you need and the accuracy you can get with it. I also hear stories of people using Granpas rifle to take game and there is a certain bit of nostalgia to that and as well.

Hard to argue with a 30-06.
I don’t actually own a 500m big game rifle at the moment. Well maybe my 375 ruger?

338 federal would be a fun one to play with
