Definitely 9mm. It is cheap to load, fun to shoot, brass is pretty much free, and it is versatile in shooting both major and minor power factors. It really did surprise me though that the 40 S&W had such a negative following compared to the 45. Very surprising as I have owned both and the 40 is a hands down winner in my book.

I'm changing my vote from 40 SW to .22LR.

.357 Mag is pretty awesome you can use it to take any game on the North American continent in longer barrel revolvers and carbines, carry it in a J Frame in your pocket, great for punching paper, can load .38 SPL mouse fart cowboy loads for the recoil sensitive.

In a pistol tough to pick between my Ruger Mk II Competition in 22LR and my CZ SP-01 Tactical in 40 S&W! Have to give the edge to the 40 S&W as favourite.

In a revolver, hands down, the 41 Rem Mag! I have 3 (2 Blackhawks w/ 4 5/8" bbls and a S&W Model 57 w/ 6" bbl. Also have a Marlin 1894S)

Sorry guys but trying to stake out a favourite is like asking somebody to pick the best looking lady in a beauty contest with your wife sitting beside you.
