Just bored honestly and was thinking about spending money that I probably shouldn't on a new turkey gun for the season. I mean you can never have enough right?

Over the years I've used an 870, 870 super mag. 11-87 turkey which to this day I regret selling, and the last couple years I've just used my Beretta A400. All 12g but was

thinking of going 20g Never used a scopeor a red dot but I have a BNIB Sig Romeo 5 just sitting here.

So I've been sitting here sipping on Whiskey thinking I should put a new rig together. What do you use ?

Cheers,

DL

I have like 8 12gauges to choose from.

Still use my old Mossberg 535 with kicks full choke.

That way I can beat on it and won't feel bad like I would with my semis, or my 870 my dad bought me for first gun.

Oh ya, Mossberg is the lightest gun of them all so it's nice for running and gunning - trade off it kicks the hardest too.

I use 12ga 870 sureshot with a bushnell trophy 1.75-4 with circle plex reticle. Last year I put a primos jellyhead choke in that's slightly tighter than the rem x-full choke. It seemed to work but I think I was getting better patterns with the rem choke. So I've loaded up on turkey shells, just waiting for good weather to do a better side by side comparison.

I was going to try a CZ pump. Only because its in the same camo pattern as my vest. Everyone knows turkeys can see mismatched camo patterns from a mile away.

I really don't have one, I have shot turkeys with 12's and 20's, SxS, O/U, Pump's, Auto's, and bow & arrow.

Its a silly question.

I would use any of my shotguns except the rifled ones, depending on how I felt that day.

Cool... I get it... then stop posting in the thread. It was just a question about what others are using. I wasn't begging for your advice as to what I need to kill a turkey as I've killed plenty.

I am debating pulling the trigger on a Stevens 301 in 410, shooting tss. Seems they are pretty popular in the US for turkey. Everything I've read about it, including on this forum makes me want to but obviously I could only use it for small game as of now. If I could legally hunt turkey with a 410, I'd be all over it.

I'd love to give something like that a try, but unfortunately, Quebec laws haven't kept up with ammo developments. For now anyways, .410 is illegal for turkey. Only 12ga and 20ga are legal.

Just a suggestion, but if you've taken a bunch of birds with different shotguns, why not try archery to mix it up? It definitely makes it more challenging.

For the price of a new scattergun you can buy a decent crossbow or compound....

Seems like a more feasible option when one can use TSS 9, like in many US states. In Ontario can’t use shot smaller than 7s
