What is your last ditch rifle....

My trusty .308 Steyr Scout with a 2.5x leupold scope and a ching sling.

I gotta say, that is probably the best of all the bug out rifle combos listed. A whole bunch of ammo would be nice too.

frankly for real SHTF a solid med range bolt gun with a sidearm is probably the best defence/provision solution.

Sadly I don't have any bolt guns right now so I will have to make due with the 858 or most likely the SAN short carbine with aimpoint and a fist full of full Pmags.

Hard call, in a SHTF scenario I'd normally have my AR and my Glock. If it truly was "last ditch" then I'd have my 870 w/ surefire forend.

edit.

thats a shotgun...need a rifle...:p

Then It would be my CZ858, but then its not 100% reliable because of the gremlin. Gonna send the bolt to Neit arms. :D

Seriously, what does it mean by "last ditch"? Is it the rifle that you keep when you go bankrupt, or the rifle that you keep when the planet is devoured by zombies....or worst, the rifle you use when your shovel is mssing so you can dig your last ditch?

Would be nice to know. The way I see it "last ditch" is when everything else has failed or is no longer available because you discarded it.

You guys can have fun in the city with tactical webbing all over each other, aimpoints, acogs, if the world truly ended as we know it... I'm going into the bush with a hunting rifle and a shotgun. :) We're Canadian, there isn't a place in this country without good bush more than 100 clicks away. I know there's a good few hunters in this thread, they'd be the ones who'd get through it just fine. Urban commando-ists, not so much... self correcting problem, as they say. :)

Rude. Go write another soliloquy about your love for Obama in off topics (what? you thought we'd forget?) and stop trolling in black rifles if you don't like the rifles or their shooters.

Edit: I forgot to put my smile in: :)

I just noticed this post. Who said anything about staying in the city or leaving? The situation dictates the tactics. Not everyone in this thread lives in the city either.

cannot resist!

True - You WOULDN'T be able to resist... At least not with one of those little plastic Mattel Toys in the poodle caliber: I've got you at longer range, with more energy, AND I could beat your rifle to pieces with mine.

AND mine WOULD dig a ditch...

So there...

Nanny-nanny, poo-poo!

I am surprised that more people have not chosen the AK47. Lots of ammo available everywhere. I am sure I have 10 000 rounds right handy and if you had to find anything it would be the easiest after the 22 long rifle.
PS90 with a full 50 round mag and a few extra. Maybe a drum for the ak. Maybe one of my galils. But I would lean towards the 7.62x39 as I am sure it would be easier to find.
I guess an ak47, galil in 5.56x45, ps90, and a glock 18. the 3 should be able to find ammo as you travel or scour the area for food and fuel.

Well, if we weren't operating in the Canadian reality, my answers would be different.
