My NM Springfield just sits in my safe. I love owning it, looking at it, reading about it...but I can't stand shooting it...still it's nice having a non-rest .308 around.

I haven't taken mine hunting yet, but hope to use it for deer this autumn, maybe even bear if I get the chance to go after them. I think we need to emphasize the extent to which these rifles are used in the woods, just in case someone tries to further restrict the use and ownership of semis.

I also hope to use my M14 clones for range practice at 100 and 200 yards, but I'll need to set up my reloading press beforehand, since the Lee Hand Press is a bit too slow for reloading the 300 plus empty brass that I have sitting around, and .308 is too pricey otherwise to shoot any more than to sight in the rifle.

On the long term, I hope to one day try a few Service Rifle matches, but I'll be happy for now if I can shoot the rifles on the range a couple times this summer and take them out for a few days in deer season.

Nope, seriously man, I have had a number of very nice older Springers with all GI parts, and even a Poly shorty GI before the craze hit ... hated them all ...ask GGFB if he is still around, I love the idea of these guns, the history but I hate running them ...now my old FNs, that is another story all together, sadly I don't have those anymore.

I have three right now. Two were originally built for hunting, the third as a zombie/range/short-range target gun. While I don't get them out nearly as often as I should (that goes for most of my guns), I included two of them on my last range trip. It was a great experience that has encouraged me to use them more often for their intended purpose. Hope to use one this spring to blow up some varmints :D
