What is your most recent ammo purchase?

A small 'windfall' :) . For;
two recently acquired 7x57's
- 3 boxes of 7x57 Federal Classic 175gr
A recently acquired SxS 'Ditch Chicken' gun
- 3 boxes of 410 Winchester 3" #4 shot
- 2 boxes of 410 Remington 3" #6 shot
- 1 box of 410 Federal 3" #6 shot
- 1 box of 410 Federal 3" #5 shot

Also, two empty 10 round 30-06 Norma boxes. Bit of a novelty. I wasn't aware Norma ever put out anything like that.

Shooting trap :) Try to hit the clays once a week when home.

Ahhhhh. That explains it. How do you like the 28 so far for this? I grew up shooting a single shot 28 with a full choke pretty much exclusively for grouse hunting. Most shots were on the ground but some were in the air and I always enjoyed and mostly connected with those wing shots. I can vividly remember one I did when I was about 15 with that shotgun at about 40 or 50 yards. Was a helluva shot that I'd have a hard time repeating today. But I always like that 28. Seemed like you'd get the same range as some of the standard bores, but there would be much less room for error so you'd have to make damn sure your shot counted.

I believe, judging by your posts, that you and I are pretty close to opposite end of the income spectrum. That being the case, if a guy were to want to get (back) into shooting 28's and wanted to do so on a rather restricted budget, do you have any suggestions on what make and model of shotgun would be good for that? I don't mind saving up money but would ideally like to keep things under 1000$ all in. All action types are open but i would prefer interchangeable chokes. I have been reading your posts and articles for years and would very much appreciate any info you can give me on the subject, either here of by PM if you would be so kind. Thanks.

Sorry for the derail everybody.

Picked up a bunch of different 30-06 ammo during the Cabelas 20% sale.

Unfortunately, the gun seems to like the expensive stuff... :(

Bought AE 44 Magnum JHP... holy $h/t they saw me coming... 62.99 plus tax at the local shop on way to range.
Needed it to try in the new Ross 92.
Online is a lot cheaper.
Need to get dies and boolits...lol

2 cases of Winchester 28 gauge steel shot #7, yes I said #7 not # 7 1/2. Don't know what that's all about.
Got 'em at the soon to be defunked LeBarons for $8.12 a box. Don't need steel as they're cartridges for partridges, and the price was right..

I picked up two boxes of 150gr Hornady American Whitetail .308 that I hope to get to use whenever this tin can gets me back home. Though it will be used chasing blacktail...

I was at the Orangeville gun show on Sunday, and I bought a box of early 50s and pre-1947 Dominion 32 S&W Long....

Speaking of vintage ammo, these were picked up a while back from an estate sale. The CIL Sabre Tip bullet was way ahead of it's time  -

Nice find. I really enjoy purchasing vintage ammo. My son has quite the collection of rare vintage cartridges... and after each visit to the local gun show, his collection grows even more. He also picked up two vintage percussion cap tins dating to the late 1800's. Some go for big money.

Nothing fancy, I picked up a bucket of .22's at my local Walmart this evening. cheap practice ammo for my son.

I wouldn't think this to be post worthy, other then the fact, that I didn't even need to show my PAL to purchase. There were a bunch of pails in the air rifle/ optics case, and the kid that opened the case just gave them to me. I asked if he needed to see my PAL, and he said I only needed it if I was buying ammo from the ammo case. At checkout, the girl was confused when the screen said "must be 18", then the next screen said "check FA license". She just clicked through and said, "I've never seen that before". OH boy!
