What is your most recent rifle purchase?

I did not buy it, but I was given my grandfather`s Remington 742 Woodsmaster in 30-06. My uncle had it, but is getting out of shooting so he gave it to me as he thought I would appreciate it most of all the family; I think he is right as Gramp and I were pretty close. I do not think it has been shot in over 30 years and my grandmother thinks it may have had 2 boxes through it at most. Dropping a Bushnell Elite 2-7 on it I have here (do not trust the old foggy Sportview on it) and booking a week off this fall to go hunting. I am originally from NB so I am getting my father to get his class 2 guide license so I can go back and hunt with it and him. Worst case scenario, I am going on the deed to Dad`s house before you becomes old and senile :).

Don't recall if I posted this one or not. CZ 527 Carbine 7.62x39mm

Marlin 336 in 30-30 off the EE, just waiting for it to arrive.

If it is as nice as I hope it will be, I may keep it for my daughter as her deer rifle when she is older.

Just need to find a Leupold 1.5-5x20 to put on it if it's a keeper.

Cheers
Jay

Voere Kufstein in 6.5x55 nice hunting rifle, I find myself attracted to the blue steel and wood guns now. I might refinish the stock or maybe just leave it as is and not worry about getting bumps and scratches while hunting

Not exactly a "purchase" - Win 94AE Black Shadow in 444 Marlin

My brother decided he didn't need it anymore, bought it in '98 or '99 (he can't remember exactly), only put 12 rounds through it to get it sighted, then stuck it away. Been bugging him for years to sell it to me, he finally said "it's yours, no charge". Wow.

Took it up to the range this past weekend (got it Friday from the Posties), it's a kickin' devil, could only manage 8 shots before my shoulder cried "Uncle". Not like my own JM 444S, which only gives a push, not a shove.

Here's a pic, with the Marlin 1977 444S I bought in '78, and the kissin' cousin AE in 444 Marlin.

Got this ugly English made rifle, who used Spanish receivers, and chambered it in a Swedish cartridge...

What is it anyway? 1100 lightweight? Trigger is awesome now I figured out what all the screws do.

Been buying shotguns lately as my rifle collection is complete for the moment (well until my preferences change).

Last acquired was a double fister consisting of a Sako 85 Hunter in 260 rem and a Nosler M48 Legacy in 35 Whelen. Both purchased about 3 years ago. Don't currently have a pic of the 260 but this is the Whelen:

The Whelen is my current favourite. Just seems to fit me like a glove and it shoots 250 partitions sub-moa:

1950 Marlin 336 in 30-30. No extra holes or alterations. Not drilled for scope mount. 24" bbl. :)

I once owned a M64 with rec sight. Only lever action I regretted selling. This will be a nice replacement.

That is ONE NICE Whelen! One of the best, versatile medium bores out there, esp for N/A. 200s for deer, 250s for biggers.

Agreed! I have a Nosler M48 Outfitter in 35 Whelen, but mine has the Lightweight Aramid Fiber Reinforced Composite Stock.

Cheers

Very nice alternative to walnut. What scope is on that? Looks like a good fit for the rifle/chambering.
