What is your optic of choice on your IWI Carmel?

I've never tried a Discovery but I swear these are the best bang for your buck if you want a fibre wire super bright dot and excellent scope all around.

For $200 bucks??? I have doubts. I highly doubt you can get a decent scope for that price. 🤷‍♂️

I have one in red and one in green. Love them both.

I’ve had a couple other discovery optics, including their other FFP LPVO options which are more expensive. I wasn’t particularly enamoured by them.
However, the model I linked to above is honestly incredible for the price point (and beyond)!

I paid $176 delivered, taxes in. I didn’t expect much but thought I’d give it a punt for the price (I was initially going to order the PA nova fibre that you linked).

The glass is very clear, edge to edge. The dot is bright and sharp and the magnification is smooth and appears to be a correct 1x. The turrets are positive and the tracking is true. No bleed on the illumination. Feels very well made. My only gripe is it’s a 34mm tube instead of 30mm.

It’s probably my best and most surprising optic purchase over the last couple years. For reference, my other rifles have Leupolds mounted.

I would suggest anyone in the market to give one a go. Not much to lose and it will sell quick on the 2nd hand market with little to no loss.

As an owner and long term user of the Vortex Razor, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. The 1x performance is uncanny, the bezel disappears and you only see the dot. That is where it shines. At the same time it’s maybe a little dated? If I were you I’d look hard at Primary Arms PLx or PLx-C 1-8 in that same price range.
I have a Nightforce NX8 1-8 that is not mounted to anything right now because it seems best to me kept on 4x or so. Reticle not as fast at 1x, eyebox tight at 8x.

I’ve not yet ran an Elcan DR but wonder if that might be a decent choice for a hard use rifle.

Finally, it kills me to see guys with a $2500+ nice rifle with a $200 Chinese scope. Why? Respectfully, if you can’t make up your mind, or you blew your wad on the rifle, put a Holosun dot on top while you save up/make up your mind.

I started this thread for the Makasi, but I'd say the same answer:

Originally, it was the Vortex Venom 1-6x24mm combo that comes with the mount. While the scope was fine, I ended up wanting more zoomies so I sold it and kept the mount. I ended up with this instead:

Hawke Endurance 30 FD 1.7-10x44mm in the Vortex Sport 30mm Cantilever LPVO mount with 2" offset. Paired with Magpul MBUS Pro Offset just in case, but will still use the scope at 1.7x for close range.

This scope has the biggest eyebox I've ever seen for a magnified optic, the FD stands for Fiber Dot as it's illuminated with a very simple and clean BDC reticle.

Pretty sure CSC had it listed at the wrong price as I got it about $200 cheaper than anywhere else; they've raised the price since (it wasn't listed as a sale item).
