The SKS is today's Lee Enfield sporter. Everyone has one (or should have one!) It's Canada's signature sporting rifle. The day I got my PAL, I drove to CT and picked one up.

I've got three:

1951 Tula BBQ paint
1949 Tula all original, BBQ paint
Undated Yugoslavian M59

My response is not included, which is to act like a lightning rod to take the bulk of the abuse from new shooters.

I take a lot of new shooters to the range, and it occurred to me that this was adding thousands of rounds to the counts of guns I love, so I bought the SKS to take the brunt of that pain.

Now new shooters get a few rounds on the 22, a few rounds on the AR and nice hunting rifles, and they can then shoot as much as they want on the SKS.

Awesome! I love hearing this stuff! Pictures are even better!

I wish I could have included more options such as "new shooter trainer" and "because it pisses off anti gunners" but limited to 10 in the polls lol.

Personally I think all three of mine had "nice" looks on the wood to them. The black bayo was DAMN FINE but this gold one is might smexy also!

Even though my sks is for "looks" this still applies, I will shoot it to sight it in and have ammo in the safe for it...

Its crazy knowing I would reach for the 200 buck SKS over the 3 grand bolt gun lol

The cheap SKS's I have owned over the years were the most reliable of any of my semi autos. They do have their flaws..but going bang every time you pull the trigger is not one of them!

Hey Canadian Keeper - this is a great thread - best in RR for awhile. I am enjoying checking out the poll results. Great idea and cheers!

Just a bullet hose, Its the worse X39 rifle ever made...lol... And even worse is all the crapco parts people put on them,..... lol...

I have several for no good reason. Got my first one - it was super nice so decided to get another to be more of a shooter under the guise that my wife also needed one. Then of course crates of ammo. Then tacticool and removable mags. I seem to have this same problem with the TT33. Hi my name is Mac and I have a Russian surplus problem.
