What is your typical loaded day back weight?

"Ultra light" comes with a hefty tag typically, for years I've tried to ball ona Budget....
Pick up sales items or second hand but quality stuff, .AFTa pay sales lol.

But yes, time for a bit of a shake up.

Here's an Odd one..

I always- carry 1.5- 3 litre of water... Ona. Day hunt or morning but too.

Why?

There's creeks and rivers around....
3 kg of extra weight , where as a Life straw or a plastic bottle filled, but to be refilled would weigh alot less... I'm not trekking across the Desert.

Sharpen One, take One. I'm not butchering a herd.

Tripod and camera stuff will be Not used mostly but on some glassing events, a tripod is Priceless...



I took a waist belt cargo style and a real small backpack out other day... Loved the less weight, less restriction and freedom per say..

ya i don't usually carry water.
Been carrying a lifestraw for a few years now.
I also have some of those powdered drink pouches that have electolytes.
More of an emergency thing than a regular use thing though.
No room for water bottles on my pack, that location is occupied by coffee LOL
 
So many things to consider but a basic day pack for walking from the vehicle or camp is very light with the exception of water and that is dependent on environment. I would guess on average between 18 and 26 lbs not including water and power bars. But if there's any risk of overnight that adds another 8.5 lbs. for a four season ultralight tent and hollow fill sleeping bag. Be prepared doesn't mean take the pantry and stove. This figure does not include guns and ammo..
My basic back pack carries gutting and cleaning tools, fire starting, paracord and 3 little snatch blocks, game bags, zip ties, pruning saw, emergency blanket and medical kit. Cheers

No point in even stepping out of camp if there is no coffee in your pack!
 
My day pack now is a vorn 45 I think, it is the best pack to carry a rifle hand free and still quickly get it in action, the pack is really well made and the fabric pretty quite. But it is a heavy pack to start with, up here I tend to carry a little more than when I used to live down south, so I would say in the early season I’m at 20-25lbs including rifle in the winter I’m probably more like 30lbs.
