What it Takes to Shoot the Old Ones

Not sure how you make a M80 barrel with an ID in the .446" neighborhood to a M14 barrel with an ID in the .318-23" neighborhood by boring???
You could put in a sleeve but mine shows no sign of sleeving.
They cut off the end of a m80 barrel (past the bayonet lugs) then bored it out a bit and turned down the lebel barrels at the muzzle end a bit then sleeved the bored out m80 barrel over the lebel barrel.

I guess I have a special one that is only within 3/4 inch less in length than a regular 1874 M80 barrel and at the risk of repeating myself, is not sleeved.

All 3 of my '74s measure muzzle to back of the bayonet lug at approx 4 inches. If that got cut off, I'm at a loss as to why my 1874 M80 M14 barrel is only around 3/4 inch shorter than my 1874 M80 barrel instead of 4 inches shorter??
