What kind of bait have you guys tried?

Would like to lure deer to my cams and I am trying out alfalfa pellets and oats this week. What bait has worked well for you guys, and do you think there is something better? The wood lot I'm hunting is surrounded by corn and soya crops so I want to try something different like a delicacy
I live in eastern canada.

Feed corn works for the deer in my neck of the woods. The bears like it too with a little molasses poured on it.

We have been using apples for years, and they work great. A pickupfull every 2 weeks. Once the weather gets below freezing, then we switch to carrots. Apples go bad quick in the cold...carrots keep for a very long time. If you put in the time to bait, it will be worth your while.

I used to get a pick-up truck load of carrots for $5. up in Bradford processing plants, it worked well and is cheap feed.....

x2. although im trying feed corn this year out of a homemade feeder (4'' PVC with a joint in the bottom) at another spot just to see if it brings any deer in.

Apples x 3 ... seems they prefer the "wild" variety over the grocery store variety though. Easy enough to collect a few bushells from some of the old trees in farm fence rows around here. Cut several in half and stick them on saplings up to about three feet off the ground ... we found that a couple of saplins decorated that way with about a quarter bushell under them was about right. Start around Thanksgiving ... renew weekly. Bradford carrots worked well enough too. A box of "culls" was pretty cheap. They tend to be
abundant right after Thanksgiving as well.
