What kind of bipod do I want for bench shooting my Bergara HMR?

To the OP:

You probably already know this. Not trying to Okayshooter you. The explanation is in order to provide my rationale regarding choices.

You have to decide what you want. With a rifle that isn’t specifically a benchrest rifle, Fclass etc.. many of us use bags on the bench, or a bipod and bag on the back. However the general idea is to have overall use such as field use shooting prone etc with the bipod. The bags are for the bench. Instead of having a bipod or front rest specifically for that. General use. Not competition or bench/F class specific gear.

The Mpod is probably your best deal for that specific purpose ( F class bipod). But it’s not something you would likely choose for hunting, PRS or tactical shooting. It’s very specific. Much like a bipod version of a benchrest front. Usually the rifle you would use these types of rests with are also specifically built for that same purpose.

In the less specific and still in your price range, the options dry up. As already mentioned you don’t want cheap with all the bells and whistles. Pan/tilt etc. You want higher quality and the best design. Which increase cost dramatically. Usually the more adaptable and high quality, the more expensive. How’s that go again? You can have inexpensive , quality or adaptable. Choose any two ( ok I may have ripped off the old fast cheap quality saying).

For a general bipod that is well made and excellent value.. right now the MDT grnd pod is on sale with their Black Friday sale. It makes your price point for the next few days.

The Mpod is a good option if you have a very focused and specific purpose for that rifle. Especially if the rifle is matched for that purpose.

Good luck!
