Hey guys was looking to get a defiance deviant action. three bolt lug options. Cone, Flat, Recessed.
Was just wondering if anybody has any info on benefits or disadvantages to a certain type of bolt lug? any info will help thanks guys.

From my personal experience, one of the most accurate rifles I ever shot had a cone face. I also shot a tikka t3 in 6.5 swede that put 5 rounds into 1 hole and those tikkas have a sort of combo cone and flat surface bolt face. If I have the option and the people putting it together were on the same page as me, I'd go cone. But I don't think you can go wrong with any of those options.

That is only to do with the bolt face and the front of the bolt, not the lugs. Conical bolt faces are good when using small diameter VLD bullets such as 6mm and smaller. Without the conical feed, the bullet tip can hit the area outside of the chamber mouth. With hunting and non-VLD bullets, not an issue

Generally speaking 3 lug actions have a shorter bolt throw than 2 lug actions and a stiffer bolt operation. Accuracy differences between 3 lug actions and two lug actions, coned, flat or recessed is zero.
