What kind of competitions can I go into with a G21?

Noob Gun owner, curious as to what my limitations are with a G21 in terms of competing?

You can use it in IPSC, IDPA, and other shooting sports. In Canada, you're going to be limited to a magazine capacity of ten cartridges, and your G21 holds ten, so magazine capacity is a non-issue. (Outside of Canada, magazine capacity might become an issue.) The required power factor of IPSC Standard (170) and IDPA CDP (165) is easily achieved with .45ACP, so power is a non-issue. The Glock enjoys great popularity in North America, so parts, accessory, and holster availability is a non-issue. And .45ACP enjoys great popularity in the United States, so - aside from cost - both ammunition and brass availability is a non-issue.

Depending upon the sport - and the respective division - that you would choose, however, you might not require .45ACP, and you might find yourself competing against others with 9x19mm pistols. In such a case, those competitors might enjoy less recoil, less muzzle rise, and a markedly lower cost of operation. So, in time, depending upon your activity, you might find yourself in the market for a 9x19mm pistol yourself.

In short, the largest single limitation of the G21 might be the cost of .45ACP ammunition and brass (when compared to more contemporary - and smaller - options).
