Took in the Stampede Parade this morning with my daughter, got up early to get curbside seats at the beginning of the route, so we can see all the bands and dance troops before the wilt in the heat.

Anyway, the CAF procession comes by, and aside from a couple of "JTF2 - looking" guys on foot, this thing rolled by:

Now, you might say, "Well, that's just the Polaris DAGOR they bought for the JLTV contract"...

Except...

It isn't.

The body and frame are significantly different. And another giveaway, much smaller 4 lugnut wheels instead of the 6 lugnut wheels of the DAGOR, see below:

Soooo...

Edumacate me... What did I see this morning?

These things look more unsafe as troop carriers than WWII's Willy's Jeeps... you don't want to be in them when they get hit from the side, even with a 22LR, lol! Or from the front & back, for that matter.

Maybe they can use them in the next Mad Max movie though.

"Cana'duh: our equipment can suck because we let Americans handle the real wars! " (sarcasm / the way Libtards in government think...)

or not be buckled in/standing if the driver hits the brakes real hard!

I'd say "I'd love to have one of those one day"....but I shudder to think what the crown paid for those. :( I'd still love to be a poser and scoot around town in it. :)

I think that they aren't meant (or legal) on public roads, in that configuration. DND can operate anything anywhere since they don't actually have to abide by normal road rules, but it would be neat to be able to ride one :)

One of the things I can attest to, is that it's very quiet. I was maybe 20 feet away from it as it drove past, and I couldn't hear any engine noise. Mind, this was in the middle of the Stampede Parade, so the ambient noise level was, erm, elevated. But I could make out the engine noise of every other vehicle that went past, including the Kinsmen mini cars and planes.

This isn't meant to protect the troops through armor. This is a spec ops truck meant for speed and low observability. The pictures don't do justice to how low to the ground it is, relative to other vehicles. This is a "can be dropped by parachute or any helicopter, get in and out fast before they knew you were there" kind of vehicle. There are a ton of hard points to strap machine guns and other weapons/sensors to.

It's a natural evolution of this concept, which has proven successful time and again ever since:

Until Polaris took a run at it. Be it a sled, quad or sxs Polaris off road products are junk

Gents. CANSOF didnt throw a dart at a dartboard when they chose this vehicle.

I used Polaris RZRs as a CANSOF member in Afghanistan and they did more than we asked of them time and again.

I fix that junk for a living. By far the most repair/ warranty work we do is on Polaris’s, couldn’t pay me to own one. A lot of people pay me to fix them though.
