I've googled, and I've searched here, can't seem to find any answers...

Do you guys just oil the internals (bolt and slides) of your 870's or do you use some kind of grease as the factory does?
What kind of grease or oil do you prefer to use?

I like "gunslick" graphite grease. Available at Can-tire.

Don`t get too hung up on lubes for firearms, I use SYN motor oil. Firearms aren`t that fussy at least the manualy operated onces.Come to think of it I have`nt used store bought gun oil in about 15 years, And Shoot everything from Brown Bess Repro to the AR15.

I`m sure this will get things going, people telling you you have to use the $15.00 per once Wonder oil but as I said in my 25+ years experience firearms arn`t too fussy, I use SYN oil as it does gum up in cold weather.

Well I've got a whole wack of different stuff around for various automotive and power tool applications. What about a silicone based spray? I'd think it'd work well for the rarely wiped down internals.
The gunslick graphite stuff...same as graphite lubricant in a spray can?

No. The graphite grease is just that, graphite powder mixed with grease. The Spray kind of dries to a thin finish, and IS very good stuff. Messy though, but if you're able to work with it, it is great in the cold.

Well the spray is what I'm accustomed to using for tight fits in the shop so I'll give it a shot on the shotgun.

I use G96 and it works good in the cold, but haven't tried what you guys are talking about, maybe it's better?

I would highly recommend EEzox instead of grease simply because of its rust inhibiting poroperties, they are far superior to any motor oil or graphite grease and with condensation caused by moving it from cold to warm I'd be more worried about rust than lubricant. EEzox is a fine lubricant for slow moving parts such as a pump shotgun, grease is more for high temp, high cycle machines. an 870 is neither. Many products provide excellent lube for your 870 but not all are equal in protecting it from mother nature.
