.22LR Federal bulk packs? This is the super cheap stuff ($11 for 550 rounds). I'm currently getting around 1,5" groups from 100 yards with my 3-9x scoped Ruger 10/22 stainless.

Is this generally what can be expected? Any way to make them smaller?

I think you have tweeked everything shooting 1.5" at 100 yards with a semi-auto and bulk ammo, Try some groups with eley 10x, you might get it down to 1" ?

Your getting about 1/2 the size I would expect. 3"-5" 5 shot groups were about what I was getting and I thought that was pretty damn good.

It is hard to believe a 10-22 would shoot that well...

Are you measuring only the best groups once in a while...? :)

I wonder if it's a two shot group ;) taken out of a patern...

All kidding aside, your gun/ammo combo is shooting better then most other rimfire out there. Run to the store and buy all you can of that ammo batch.

My mistake! You were all making it sound too accurate to be true, so I checked the range's website and it's 55 yards. Sorry.

So 1.5" groups from 55 yards. Is that what's expected? This would be about 3" groups at 100 yards if my logic is correct.

I purchased the ammo in the states... I'll post some grouping pictures later of my targets from 55 yards, and I'll do some ACTUAL 100 yard shooting :p

i remember growing up my cooey model 64b i think it was shot better than my 10/22 i have now..without the heavy barrel everyone's right on the money..i can barely do 1.5" at 50 if i'm lucky....if you pick yourself up one of those butler creek heavy barrels which you can drop in yourself that'll probably improve things immensely...as well as the trigger..they suck..but both of those will run you probably over $400..which is more than i paid for the gun haha but yeah i think you're doing just fine.

1.5" at 55 yards sounds about right to me. Thats what my Savage bolt action usually does outside at the range. Once you go out to 100 yards though, you'll notice your groups will open up considerably.

Glad you corrected that mistake. I was about to throw a brick of Eley EPS into the burn barrel and turn my Anschutz Prone rifle into a tomato stake.:p
1.5" group at 55 yards does not mean 3" at 100. It could very well be 6-7" at 100. You won't know for sure unless you try it.

That stuff shoot the poorest of any ammo I've tried in my bolt action 22. Not by a long shot or anything, but it does print a wider pattern and contain more flyers than properly packed ammo. Its just fine for gophers, but nothing you'd want to brag about on paper. Try all the reasonably priced brands and you might find one that shoots even better, or not.

Is this a Precision Rifle?
Maybe should be in the Rimfire forum?

Of the "Bulk Ammo" Dynapoints are great in my BRNO, and AE 400 packs work good in my 10/22.

Bought the ammo in the united states...I live in a border city.

550 Federal .22lr for $11. 250 Remington .40S&W for $65. 3% New York sales tax, no border duty or canadian taxes.

Hell of a deal I find.

Why no duty at the border? There should be if you declare your purchase. If not... I wouldn't want to be caught.. and fined.
