What kind of gun did I end up with?

Thanks Baribal for all of the useful information and pictures, curiosity was killing me last night so I took it apart again and can barely make out a faint "Spain" on the tang as you suggested and have shown in the pictures. So now I know for sure. Any idea why they attempted to grind off the spain markings on these actions, or was it a British pride issue? Thanks again.
