I have a pair of Revision Sawfly's. A bit overkill (especially if you buy the polarized lens ), but when it's your eyes or ears, it's never a bad thing to spend a little extra coin. They have an Rx holder that clips onto the nose piece which you can fill with your prescription lenses, so you can keep the prescription on, but change from clear, to shades, to low-light yellow (which I think looks pretty rad).
Most wrap-around safety glasses, which you can by from any safety supply house, will fit over your regular glasses. You can also request impact resistant lenses for your glasses from your Optician (he may know if they already are impact resistant) and then he, or the safety supply house, should be able to supply side sheilds.
"...request impact resistant lenses..." All impact prescription glasses are resistant. The size of the lens is important though. They need to cover your whole eye.
do you wear contacts? i either wear my normal glasses, or contacts + oakley half-jackets. at least with the oakleys, i can swap out the lenses depending on the light conditions: gold polarized, yellow / orange, clear, etc.

x2 I have daily wear disposable contacts that I wear to the range. That way I don't have to think about cleaning them - they just go in the trash. Plus I can change glasses depending on conditions.
I have Oakley half-jackets as well with the XLJ lenses (they fit my face better) but I need different coloured lenses as right now I only have the black iridium. When I'm shooting inside I use my pink PIP glasses.
If you need bifocals, you need to be careful with the insert rx safety glasses sometimes. Some of them bend the inserts in a certain way that it will blur your vision. At least thats what lenscrafters told my dad anyways. (it makes sense though.)
Anybody ordered RX safeties from safevision.net? They have really cool wraps but they are in US. Anybody knows of Canadian vendor who sells RX wrap around safety glasses? Also, who carries RX Oakley's in Canada? The setup with contact lenses + regular safeties doesn't work for me. My eyes are getting too dry in the range to wear contacts. I have RX work safety glasses but they are...mmm...ugly.
Learned something new today. If you have medical insurance at your work place and they cover eyewear, you can order RX glasses from US vendor as long as you have your prescription issued by licensed optometrist in Canada. The insurance will cover your costs because such an expence is eligable under income tax act no matter if the vendor is in Canada or in US. I talked to Revenue Canada to make sure since my insurance agent couldn't answer that. However, I would still prefer to deal with Canadian vendor if I could find one that sells cool RX wrap arounds.
don't know what kind of prescription you're talking about, but when i picked up regular safety glasses at princess auto i saw they have 'off the shelf' prescription safety glasses for like 10 or 15 bucks. worth a look at that price. might be bad for your eyes though
