hey im wondering what you guys are mounting on competition bench 22lr guns

ive got a good idea of what i want but was looking to see what would come up for recommendations extra info is always good

ill be shooting outdoors 25 to 200 yards mostly 50 to 100 yards with this rifle

so lets hear it
what have you got for me

The closest I come to "benchrest" is prone from the bed of my truck. Pretty much the only type of shooting I do at the gravel pit I go to (over 400 yards to play with).

I use a Mueller APV 4.4-14x40 AO on my mark II BV and a Hawke varmint SF 2.5-10x40 on my FVSR. I give the lead to the APV. Though they are very close in build quality and clarity!

Edit: sorry I guess I missed the word "competition" in the OP.

I just bought a sightron 10-50 60mm scope.
4scopes.com was $200 less than Canadian prices and only $35 shipping/customs. Also saved about $50 on buris zee rings.
2day shipping!
Awesome business!

You want 36x magnification and a small dot for 22. Weaver, sightron are great for the money, leupold target scopes are excellent, and the higher end are wonderful like march, and Schmidt and bender. I would stick to any one of those.

I would go with a T36 Weaver or a Sightron Sll 36X.

These are good choices. I use the Sightron on my bench rifle for 100yd matches.

The OP did mention shooting at various ranges, though. 36x is too much magnification for 25 yds. He might be better off with a variable power scope - I can certainly recommend the Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x.

If the scope will focus at the distance you will compete at , even as close as 10 yds, why not use as much magnification as you can get. You are shooting off a rest and there should be little to no ill effects from contact with the rifle.

I use the Weaver V24 and V36's... but also have a few Mueller Target scopes in 8-32X44 and Mueller Eraticators in 8.5-25X50mm... they compare very favourably with other Weaver and Leupold models and at a much lower price point... I have many Hawke Varmint SF's, but the 1/2 Mil-Dot crasshairs are too heavy to be considered a bench "competition" scope... for "casual" target and group shooting and for hunting they are an excellent product.

Didn't know weaver made a V36?

If you are going to shoot competition benchrest be sure to check the rules for the class you
plan shooting in . I shoot US Benchrest , the Sporter class I shoot in has a 24x maximum .
I use a Weaver T24 . It works well for 25 to 100 M . Other classes have no limits to scope magnification .
I use Weaver T 36 in these classes .When I shoot at the club for fun we shoot 25 to 200 M . I like a
scope with mil dots for that . It allows you to quickly change distances without cranking the turrets
to get elevation . Be sure to look at a 25 MOA scope base if you plan on shooting 200 M . If you
are sighted in at 50 M at 200 M your drop is about 60 inches , more than some scopes adjust .

An important feature I haven't seen mentioned: get a scope which has an adjustable objective or side parallax adjustment. this is a 'must have' for optimum competition performance with .22 long rifle.
