What Kind of Trigger Lock Do You Use on Your Remington 870?

Well I am completely fed up with the crappy Remington Trigger lock that the 870 comes with, and the Master Trigger lock I just bought doesn't fit onto my 870 so I figured I would ask the experts. What brand of Trigger Lock do you use on your Remington 870?

Thanks Shooter, maybe its my noob skills at hand, but how did you put it on there? I can't seem to get the groves to go over the trigger guard, which makes the whole trigger assembly useless.

Had to go down stairs & confirm what I am saying . I put the key side of the lock on the ser# side of the receiver ,center the lock on the trigger guard & squeeze them together . lock covers the safety and dose not move . You can still cycle the action by pushing the release
 
I'm just going to throw this out there. I hope you all already know it.

The Remington 870 trigger lock doesn't actually count as a trigger lock.

But if I put a trigger lock on mine it's my Master lock.
 
i have master combination locks on my 870s. just squeeze the lock on tight and there is no movement, those little white retractable pins and rubber pads are there for this purpose.

only guns i DONT use a master lock on are my semis (M1A, Mini-14 you can just pull the triggerguard open) which i generally use the elongated, rubber coated Ruger padlock on through the ejection port/magwell, and my hinge actions.

BTW is this legal? :

see the square piece with the hole by the breech end of the BARREL section, that the locking pin on the action locks into? i generally take my SxS down, and then put a heavy duty padlock through THAT hole, basically making it impossible to close/fire the shotgun if ever assembled because the padlock keeps it from closing.

i am 100% confident in this locking method - it is way more secure than a triggerlock - however i just realized that it is unconventional and therefore an overzealous cop might charge me with unsafe storage.

unless u have a safe .a trigger lock is the next best thing .how do u store your guns with out a lock just wondering what other ideas are out there .as i was once charged with unsafe storage .I had my 1892 winchester 25 20 lever in the back of a closet .the search was for a unrelated missunderstanding but i got burnt becuose i was not home and my wife was not licenced .there was a latch on the closet door but no lock would trigger lock have saved me i think so .any thoughts welcome

You can legally store your gun in a locked case,or in a locked closet if it has no windows and either internal hinges or pinned or welded exposed hinges.You could also have it secured with a cable or chain.Go into a gun store and you won't likely see trigger locks on unrestricted guns.Many are secured with a cable run through the trigger guard.
 
I only use a trigger lock now that I think of it, on flights in and out to hunt big game. They seem to make everyone happy.:slap:

In the locked gun cabinet, and in the vehicle, or any time it's with me, there's no trigger guard, just me guarding the trigger.

How safe is that? Ha Ha....:D
