Master trigger locks and 870s
I had an 870 with a Master trigger lock stolen in 1996 from inside a locked cupboard where the hardwood door was smashed, inside a locked house, where they broke a window to get in after breaking into the garage to park their car). The shotgun was eventually recovered (the police found fingerprints) and the thieves broke the trigger trying to get through the trigger lock.
Insurance replaced the trigger mechanism and the 870 is still in regular use.
They got a number of other long guns too, the rest of which were missing critical parts (bolts, forends, firing pins, etc which were stored elsewhere) except an old muzzle loader which they probably couldn't figure out.
