I use the Buck Woodsman (Model 102) for field dressing and the like. I back it up with a Mora blade. I also have at my disposal a SOG Sealpup elite. There all fairly inexpensive, hold an edge, have a 4" thin blade and can do what I ask of them.

When I'm out scouting and am just out for a little walk I drag along my Rat 5 all kitted out; just in case bad things happen :)

what ever is at hand and a rusty back saw.

Sometimes a puma big game, a buck, a swiss army, utility knife................

I always have a sharpening stone so what knife turns up at hand is of little signifigance.

For butchering I have a box of Tradex 3.95 filleting knives. When I am done with the box I may resharpen.

out of the bunch of knives i own...i always use this one to gut deer or moose...

I have used a Gerber drop point for years. Compact, holds a great edge and stands up to a lot of abuse. It's nimble enough to do a good job of skinning, but with enough backbone for some heavier work.

Custom made by the Old Man. If life's too short to hunt with an ugly rifle, life is too short to hunt with a crappy knife. Customs tend to be better designed for the intended purpose, rather than just appealing to the masses. Might make me a knife snob, but that's a hardship I'm willing to live with.

Usually this set, but I have a few others to choose from.

I've used this for field dressing for a couple years now. Works as advertised, and then some. It's a great knife. I dressed/skinned 3 deer with it once without need to sharpen.

I have my Fallkniven F1 that I will be using as a strap knife this year, and general booting around.

That bottom knife is about perfection eh. If that is something your Dad makes to sell please drop a PM when you get a chance. The top one is beautiful great for detail work on hides.

Russel Belt knives...
For the money these are the best knives you can get. If I had the money an alaska knife called Diamond Blade is probably the best money can buy!!!
