What lever gun cal would you choose?

Chock up another for the 45-70 with 300's / 350's !

The 45-70 with hot loads makes the 300 grain remington factory bullets grenades. They wouldn't exit a 2 gallon jug full of water; you get a bunch of fragments and dust. It's my varmint load

Try the 300 Hornady's at about 2000 ... they work fine on deer.

375 Winchester, got one in a 99 and lovin it.

One more vote for the 375 Bonez.....

I also think the .405, 45LC are cool. The 45/70 is possibly the most practical after the 30-30..

Just bought a very nice Savage 99 in 308. Have a Marlin 336ss in 30-30 but may give it up for the savage. Know better when I get it in from the show but I have wondered about them. Check the GN site and see how many are looking for one. Fits me real good and 308 should do nicely.

Pardon me-just came in off the road from the Kamloops show. Savage 99. Same guy was selling a Remmie that looked just like a Savage too. Never seen one of these before. Might try to get a 99 in 22 or 22mag if they made them.

Nope, about the closest would be a 22 H.P., more or less a 30-30 casing necked up to 22 cal.

Why not a BLR in .280?

I have a .375 Win BB94 but if I were to get a new rifle it might as well be in a new caliber so I would go with the 450 Marlin.

i just got a 94 bb in 375 and will be using it ,lost one a few years ago and never been the same ,had to get another.I like all of them but will give this a try for memory sake

Although I have a soft spot for the 444 Marlin, I would go with a Browning Lever in 358 Win or a Savage 99 in the 358 Win.

If i had a choice i would get a .375 win Savage model 99 and load-up some 235grain spitzers.But i don't have a choice so my .44mag Marlin will do just fine under 100 yards.
