Hey. I am looking to get a light or light/laser sight for my Sig P226. Does anyone have any recommendation on what kind or where to get one for a reasonable price? Any input would we much appreciated!!:)

Probably Surefire or Streamlight are the way to go for quality... but the quality does come with a high price tag. I would start there if you believe in paying for quality once.

I will let others chime in on some higher value brands as that is not my area of expertise.

Selfish side note :D: I do have a used but fully functional Streamlight TLR2 Laser/Light combo for sale. Check out the EE under tactical gear if you're interested!

SIG makes a very good light/laser for their guns. It is available in Canada in the $300 range. I bought 2 off of E-bay for less than $150 each. Ya, I know all about E-bay but I am cheap. I have one mounted on my P220 and the other on one of my P226. Appear to be a well built and easy light to use.

The X400 is nice

Alright i'll check both those out. Thanks! The Sig one, is that the same one featured on their Website?? How does it work for you? Pretty satisfied with it?

I am very happy with it. The laser has adjustments in all directions and is quite bright. The LED light is extremely bright as well. Has buttons on both sides to turn on the laser and a set of buttons on the back for the light. I use it every night when I go sit in the hot tub. Having problems with bears in my area. Light fits nice on the SIG rail and is well balanced. Go to Ebay and do a search on "SIG laser" and they will show up. I believe a couple are for sale right now. Can be had brand new from reputable dealers in the States for a decent price. The model is STL 900L and one is for sale now for $122 CDN.

I bought the Siglite from Questar for $199.99. Only problem I've had is that it vibrates loose while shooting unless you crank the adjustment knob really tight. Their suggested installation on just depressing the button and sliding on does not work except maybe for one or two shots. I don't like tightening plastic parts excessively in case they fail in long term use. I'll see how that works out.
Other wise I like it.

Yeah i have heard that about them before. i don't care about putting it on quickly or whatever some guys say, but i'm with you i don't want it to get looser and looser over a long period of time after cranking on plastic pieces over and over. Also for the light it's no big deal but the laser sight would have to be pretty secure if one expects any accuracy out of it!! Thanks all for the posts

Streamlight TLR-3 (compact, simple light) or TLR-1s (with strobing feature among others) are my recommendations. I have the TLR-1s

TLR - 3 has been great for me. Lightweight and very small. The downside is that I can't seem to find many gun + light holsters for it. Right now I have one for my CZ-75 SP-01 and I may buy a 2nd for my incoming NP-22

everyone has suggested GREAT quality lights and my own thoughts are exactly inline with all of the advice given....

one thing to remember if buying a light is to remember that you must buy a quality light in order to find a holster to fit it.... unless you go with a generic cloth mollee type holster

so before buying any one light, also take a look at what holsters are available for that gun/light combo.

I had the sig one and the tlr-1...I am going to have to buy a tlr-1s. The TLR series is the sleekest, best quality out there in my opinion. Buy it off e-bay from an american reputable dealer so you don't get some clone piece of garbage and save 50-100 bucks over Canadian dealers to your door. Although, if you want the one with the laser they may not ship to Canada. Buy quality once, it is much cheaper in the long run, especially with a light that can be transferred from gun to gun. I even use mine as a flashlight, helped me change my tires at 11pm the other night!

If you really want a laser, the best one out there are the crimson trace grips. I had those on my Sig and they were amazing. Again, ebay, authentic with warranty for 299.00 to my door.

^^^

TLR-1 alloy casing, 160 lumens, strobe, takes 123 batteries.

TLR-3 poly casing, 90 lumens, no strobe, takes CR2 batteries.

I think with the features it has over the '3', the TLR -1 is the better buy.

Yeah i'm starting to like the TLR1. Seems like a good price for what you get. I'm not sure i'm in the market for a $350 light right now, although those light/lasers are sweet. I noticed the TLR1 is slightly larger than TLR3. For this reason does anyone prefer one to the other?? Mounted on a SigP226 i'm assuming the TLR1 sticks out past the muzzle a bit, does that effect anything as opposed to the TLR3 that doesn't? I am assuming this is how they fit from pictures i saw so tell me if i am wrong!!!
