What loads do you use for .308 for shooting roughly 600m?

kick ass, I'll try out a few nosler and a-max

155gr seems to have better MV like a few posters have said.

I've loaded up 60 rds of 168gr a-max with some varget: 41.5gr and 43.2gr to try to find if my rifle likes it hotter or not
BC: 0.475
sectional: 0.253
I'm using used brass from Winchester seems like it doesn't like me reloading it more then 3 times :(

so far, the accuracy is holding about 3-4.5 inches at roughly 500 meters :s

I've also noticed that the cross wind likes to have fun with the bullet as well
it's been quite windy here in BC in the last few days.

Will try some 155gr on a calm day to see how it fare against the 168gr

168 gr match kings with ~42 gr IMR 4064 tickle the barrel on my Sav 10FP down to better than I can aim @ ~7/16" with 10x bushnell.

lapua brass
lapua 155g scenars
varget 45 gr
rem 9.5 primer
2730 fps and .35 moa from parker hale m85 a good 800 yd load
going to go for 46 grains next loading for 1000 yd

Winchester Brass - neck sized only
44.5 Gr Varget
155 SMK
CCI BR primer
.005 off the lands

So far mine loved the 155 SMK but the 155 AMAX not so much, decent but not as good as the SMK's.

I notice no one here is using Norma brass, I just got a bunch sorted and ready to try..... see if it's any better than Winchester in my rifle.

What are you guys getting for velocities with your 155 SMKs and Varget combos? I've been getting a slow 2800 fps with the 2156 and slow minus 100 with the 2155s. Still scratching my head over that one.

Getting around 2940-2950 fps with all 155's moly coated with 46 gr of varget out of a 30 inch Bartlein barrel.

Time to turn up the heat, or pull the trigger harder cause mine thinks it's a 30-30 with the same load.
My Anschutz sporter produces your velocities though, with 4064. What a difference a different barrel makes.

i like to shoot
46.0 grains of varget
155.5 bergers touching
155 scenars 20 off
lapua cases
cci br2 primers
my average speed is 3020 with the scenars and 3030 with the bergers.shooting out of a 30 inch krieger and has worked quit well for me out to 900 meters.

My results are consistent with Maynard's:

46.3 Varget, Winchester brass, #2155 Sierra (no moly) at 2.805", gives about 3020fps in a 30" barrel (which ought to be an honest 2800fps in a 22"+ barrel).

I suspect that the #2155 Sierra, with its very short shank, might be fairly sensitive to bore diameters. Loading data (especially Hodgdon's) shows published loads of Varget for .308/155 that I just shake my head at and can't imagine how they are safely and usefully done. And yet I suspect the load data is good and valid, oftentimes the American shooters who visit us are using charges into the high 40s whereas most Canadians seem to be in the 44-46 grain range.

Perhaps your barrel is a few tenths bigger; provided you don't have pressure signs, try hotting it up.

FWIW I have recently tried the #2156 Sierras and the Berger 155.5s for the first time.

45.5 Varget in a Lapua case with a Lapua 155 gives me about 2940fps in my 30" barrel.
45.0 H4895 in a Lapua case with the #2156s gave 2975fps in a 30" barrel
44.5 H4895 in a Lapua case with the B155.5s gave 2975fps in a 30" barrel (and a really great 1.2 minute 14-shot group at 900m at our Circle Training this past Saturday)
