What Magnifcation?

For all you 1K shooters out there! I'm not concerned as to brand suggestions I'm old enough to decide what brand and how much I will spend.
Since I've never shot at 1K at the prescibed targets I'm looking to know what power scope is the best that you personally use to do the job.
Is 10X or 16X or 20X the way to go?

I like 16 , but more could be better I don't like shooling with scopes set much past 17x though....

I'm fine with a 4.5-14X. Good for hunting yet good for LR paper.

You will find that once you get above 10x the mirage will start to get pretty bad. There have been days when I couldn't shoot with the 28x because I couldn't see.

+1. It's why I prefer high power variables. You can scale it down for the bad days, and dial it up when visibility is better. A lot will depnd on your eyes though, what works for some folks just won't work for others. - dan

Well at least I won't be outclassed right off the bat if I show up with a 10x as well as a 16x.
I figured anything less than a 10x would be like going to gunfight with knife.

Yup! Though if under the 600m area, 10x would be fine too.
