Hey ,
Just wondering what makes the Luger prohib.
Is it the barrel?

If it’s only the barrel, can these be rebarreled and reclassified?

Are barrels available?

I have a buddy who can do the work and he’s also a verified.

Thanks

Yes, barrel.
Yes, can be reclassified.
Available from time to time.
Rebarrelling a Luger is more challenging than rebarrelling a rifle, even though the barrel screws in essentially the same way.
The barrels are in tight, and the receiver is delicate. A really good receiver wrench, properly fitted, is essential.
The original barrel will have to be destroyed/surrendered. Make removal easier by machining away the barrel shoulder to relax torque.
Your buddy is licenced to gunsmith prohibited firearms?

Where would a guy maybe find a barrel?

Yes my friend,is a licensed gunsmith,verifier, 12-6 holder.

You might try Peter at lugercollector dot com. He re barrels lots of prohib Lugers for resale. Whether he would sell you just the 107mm barrel or not I don't know.

You can also get restricted lugers. The Swiss ones seem readily available from a number of sources, and while expensive still a more economical choice than buying one and rebarreling. Plus from what I've read on other posts the paperwork alone can take months for the classification change

Actually, the Swiss lugers seem to command a higher price than rebarrelled DWM's or Mausers. (2K and up vs mid teens)

I’ve seen a couple on here for $800-$900.

The smith and verifying will cost me very little.

What about a barrel sleave? To ugly?
Temporary of course, until I got a real barrel.

Dlask used to have barrels for $250. They still show on their site but they have been showing "Out of Stock" forever (years maybe?). I think I heard/read somewhere average cost of rebarrelling was around $400-500

“What makes German Luger’s 12X?.”

Up until the Liberal government’s UNCONSTITUTIONAL bill C-68, short barrelled revolvers & autos were legal for lawful gun owners to possess. They created a two tier system whereby lawful gun owners are split into 2 unequal categories: so-called “grandfathered” gun owners & non-grandfathered gun owners. Liberals love to punish lawful gun owners but coddle criminals & criminal misuse/abuse/ & illegal possession. The Liberals latest bill C71 only harasses lawful gun owners & ignores criminal use.

Why did bill C71 contain no provisions or registry for prohibited gun owners?
Kanada is lost to the socialist SJW’s. I have no confidence in the CPC’s Mr. Milquitoast-Mitt Romney-like Andrew Scheer. He’s even more banal than conservative-in-name-only S. Harper.
