I own/shoot a Glock 17.....why?? It was cheap....got a LEO/Mil discount on a new one...9mm was cheap to feed it. They are reliable, only have shot about 1000 rds from mine but never had a problem yet...and I will shoot the cheapest ammo at the store at the time. Easy to maintain as well.
I use a issue BHP...I've shot it more and I am more accurate with it and would use it over my Glock (if I had a choice) in an engagement.....but that is because I have more practice with that gun....and not the fault of the Glock at all. Its free to feed our guns at work after all.

If I ever buy polymer semi-auto pistol, it will be a Glock in .40SW. Reason is its reputation for rock-solid reliability and decent accuracy.

Didn't know that. Vancouver Police use 40s.
They don't all have issues (.40 Glocks), but the mass produced batches such as the ones the police get, have more problems than the usual commercial ones.
And a big % of the .40 Glocks have reliability issues while having a light mounted. Even Glock doesn't know what the f**k makes that, but it's a common and known issue. Something with the waves in the frame not moving properly when fired.

owning a glock is a great bang for the buck. They are a great value out of the tupperware box, and you can make them even better with the huge aftermarket support. Another factor is interchangability of barrels, slides. For example, my glock 17 slide will work with my glock 22 receiver as long as i swap my extractor and use proper magazines. It is not the best gun out there by all means, people will always find something wrong with them, but with over 2 million sold worldwide, a few of them will fail or have a defect

That's beside the point really, I was only saying that Glock debates are always the same: "They've got fewer parts and they're sooper reliable and I would trust my life to a Glock in combat situations" vs "They're ugly and plastic and G22s go kaboom".

But to answer your question I only shoot Hi-Points.
I shot a Glock 9mm, S&W M&P 9mm and a CZ75 9mm as well as a Glock 10mm ( just for fun) before buying my first handgun. The trigger on the M&P, to me seemed the best out of the three but the metal frame of the CZ was more applealing and I shot the CZ better. The Glock was good but the I went with the CZ. I also replaced the main spring since buying it and the trigger is now quite a bit better than it was out of the box.
Some said earlier that in Canada you buy a gun that is reliable first since it is a one way trip....etc. This is a good point but we here in Canada can get CZ parts and Glock parts no problem ?? Maybe some other brands are harder.

Glocks are "cheap*", easy to use and reliable. That being said, you will find no firearm (like anything else) will perform any better than its operator.
*When I say "cheap" I mean in relative terms, especially when one looks at the average US MSRP of around USD$450.00 or so.

I own 2 Glocks - 17 & 34. Both are 9MM. I thought it was the best pistol I ever own.
I reload myself. And is now active member of the CDP/IDPA.
But last week, a IPSC guy handed me his CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow(Stock).....
It was amazing accurate and the recoil is minimal compared with my two Glocks. The guy told me due to the weight of a Glock is all on the top portion of the pistol; the bottom part seems too light and makes the pistol not too balance. The muzzle flip is big.
I am not so sure, so I just try it out myself with his CZ pistol. Shooting the 9mm with his pistol is just like shooting a .22
The front sight recover faster than my Glocks. The pistol just come back down by itself without any efford.
I will be ordering my CZ soon. But I am still a fan of Glock. Because it is so simple, realiable, and price are reasonable.

I have a 9mm Bul Storm which is very similar to a CZ 75 and I have to admit it's awesome. I could see why someone would choose it over the Glock. I don't know why I keep shooting my G17 more and just leave the Storm in the safe. This post has got me thinking again about shooting the Storm instead of the G17
