We eat like Kings at our hunt camp, wondering what everyone else does?

This year I am doing a Fish Fry! Picked up a whole mess of Fresh Lake Huron Perch at the local Fish Mongers, will also be doing Fries to go along with it. Normally I Deep Fry a Wild Turkey as my meal, but this spring I was too busy to get out for the Turkey Season!

Others in my camp are doing, Spaghetti Night, Steak Night, Ham Night, Lasagna Night, Stuffed Chicken Breasts, Venison Chili etc..

How about you, do you have planned meals at your hunt camps?

Sunday night is always a turkey dinner. After that in no particular order is roast beef, ham/pork shoulder, pasta of some sort, usually another pork dish and something else im forgetting.

Lunch the following day is fresh soup and sandwich based off of last nights meat course.

One guy that hunts with us owns his own bakery/meat shop.

we eat like kings aswell, between all the pies/tarts and other desserts I bet I gained 10lbs that week, and thats doggin' all day long too walking a few miles a day LOL

We usually go for 10 days on a moose hunt. Day 1 is usually pork chops, potatoes and veggies; Day 2 is steak, potatoes and veggies, then for the rest,we each can enough for two meals, I take swiss steak, others take chilli, stew, speghitti, and chicken costa brava with rice. For breakfasts we have bacon and eggs, omlettes, and one of the guys does eggs benedict. We usually have sandwiches or something store canned(beans, soup, stew etc.)for lunches....Ken

Day 1 everyone arrives through the day, country ham for supper, no fully cooked processed junk hams.
Day 2 Pea soup made with the ham bone for lunch Chicken wings and Chilli for supper
Day 3 Cabbage rolls and meatballs
Day 4 Roast beast
Day 5 pepper steak or steak however you want it
Day 6 Eat whatever is left.

Add in sammies for lunch, soups and other snacks like that. Breakfast usually is whatever kind of eggs you want, some toast, hashbrowns and whatever meat type item is floating around/thawed out that day. The mandatory deer heart dinners on successful days, and tons of hot mix pickles, hot pepper jelly, nachos and other goodies and it's a gourmet week. Of course, all without electricity or any of those things.

Beer, pickled eggs, pickled sausages, beer.Everyone brings a meal, like chili, lasagna, cabbage roles, stew, and way more beer.Oh yea did I mention beer?

Yep food is good at camp.

We have a "Chicken Coup" that is a dedicated deep fryer room.

Do you need another hunter? If so, look me up! I'm not far from RH and can make the drive. Heck, I'd walk there for that menu!

Moose camp for us is second week in November, it will be cold, a good -10 at night--maybe colder. I take care of supper in my camp.

Meat and potatoes is great in warmer weather, but gets cold fast around the fire in November. So I make heavy, hearty stews. Right now a beef stew (rib-eye beef steak and moose sirloin actually), moose chilli thick enough to stand a fork in and a really good chicken stew. I have them cooked already and in the freezer. Still need to make one more supper, haven't decided what it will be yet

I find these stews and a belly full of rye keep you real warm at camp.

4/5 smoked pork hocks, big head of cabbage, coarse diced turnip, carrots, parsnips, potatoes, onions, garlic favorite seasonings 4/5 pints of decent beer in a big pot topped up with water simmered all day (can be done ahead and reheated and thickened with tomato juice and a good tsp. of dried mustard at camp) some pan baked bisquick bread. For left overs keep reheating, more liquid (beer?) adding anything from other meals, soup for noon break

We live off the land and this is one of our grouse meals:D.

Was up on Lake of the Woods for the deer opener and tried something new I wanted to share.

One of the boys popped a nice doe whose backstraps I cut out and diced it into 1" cubes. They were then wrapped with bacon and tossed in the oven for about 45 mins. No other spices or seasoning, they were awesome and made a great appy while we bbqed our dinner :D
