what model is my browning. please help

so i have been shooting a browning 270 win for the last 5 years. I bought it from a family friend who only used it for hunting and no bench shooting...

I am thinking of clearing some room in my safe as i am picking up a 30.06 tommorrow and was going to look into selling a few of my guns.

only thing is i dont know what type of gun the browning is and what its worth.

its a full wood stock. the clip comes out but is hinged onto the gun at all times.

its a incredibly accurate rifle and was telling a friend over dinner that so far i have taken 7 animals .. smallest being a spiker and largest being a immature moose. All animals didnt make it more than 10 yards after being hit once.


Anyone know what model of gun i have. i know its a browning but not sure much more.

also any idea on what its worth. its in great shape

The serial number will give you date of manufacture and model. I have a 1988 Browning Hunter in .270 and it is a great caliber for big game hunting.

How does it give you the date? What should I look for in the serial number

Does your clip sound the same as mine


I love the gun . Has never let me down but the safe is getting full

Your clip description sounds like an A-bolt. But I don't recall any that were made with "full wood stock". I'm sure your pics will allow better identification. - dan

Sounds like an A-bolt. Answer this, when you close the bolt, can you see the bolt body turn in the action? Or, is there a silver plate that does not rotate? If you can see the body rotate it is an "A-Bolt", if there is a plate that remains stationary, it is an "A-Bolt II".

No offense taken, I just didn't understand. Yes, depending on condition, with $350 being rough but serviceable, and $600 pretty much new in one of the more desirable calibers. - dan
