Back in very early March I went to the store and put money down on a Remington Sendero SF II, in 7mm. Rem. Mag. They didn't have the gun in stock and said it would be in somewhere between 2 weeks and June. Shortly after I purchased a Leupold Mark 4 Tactical scope and the Mark 4 rings and base. I am still waiting for the gun. I was wanting to do some long range target shooting with the gun during the spring (haha) and summer and do some hunting with it in the fall. At this point I have given up on doing any target shooting and I am hoping to be able to hunt later on.
My question is, Is there another rifle available in that caliber with similar OR BETTER long range capabilities for the same or less money? I really like the fluted barrel.
If I can't get something that will do both activities, I will look at getting a set-up more along the hunting line. Something lighter and cheaper as I wouldn't expect to make many shots outside 400-500 yards. Should I keep the scope or look at something along the Vari-X III line?
