What oils you guys using?

The problem with using motor oil or any other non-gun oil, is the lack of a rust preventative. "Gun Oils" include a rust preventative. That is why they cost more. In terms of which one is best, that is a matter of personal preference. Personally, I just buy whatever is on sale.
 
For any semi pistol and bolt action I use HOPPE'S NO:9 but for a heavy semi auto like Garand I use a light coat of LUBRIPLATE.

Rem oil tends to slightly solidify into yellowish gunk after being in storage for a year or more.

The G96 base with the shell Roteilla T6 is like new a year or two later. Grab the firearm and you’re good to go. Wasn’t the case with REM oil.

For those asking why automative products? The shell Roteilla T6 0W40 is good in -30 and lower or +40 or higher. It protects the high wear points. It’s a lot cheaper, also use it in my truck including in -40 to -50 weather. Frankly it does a better job than most of the “ gun oils” for firearms.

G96 isn’t so much an oil. It’s a metal conditioner/treatment. It gets into the pours of the metal, creating a slick surface. Carbon just wipes off. Little to no scrubbing. Just wipe off. Significantly reduced cleaning. I’ve fired pistols in -50 Celsius with this stuff. It works. Semi auto AR10 in -30 also no issues.

If in extreme cold, I would mostly go with just G96. Only because I can confirm a semi auto pistol will work reliably in -50 with it and an AR10 in -30. I haven’t tested the T6 in -50 other than in my truck. I’m no longer in those environments nor did I enjoy shooting in that cold. So no further trials on my part!

Back in the day I had a cz858 that I would shoot corrosion surplus out of. With the water/windex trick ( 3 minutes of extra work) and the g96/shell T6 combo I never had any rust, wear or function issues. It was in storage for two years at one time. Took it apart to check and it looked new. Zero rust. This combo works. G96 on its own is awesome. I just find this steps it up a bit.

I use Bisley myself, no complaints
 
I finished my loading development for this W308, got all the data I like.
The gun is cleaned with balistol and ready for storage several months. Tinkering to oil it or not.

You know what causes misfires? Gummed up bolts that still have 20-40 year old packing grease and crap in them; weak striker springs and CCI primers😂
I can’t stand the smell of Ballistol, but use it in homemade blackpowder bullet lube.😂

Really no different than asking here in the forum.
You will get a variety of answers as to what is 'best' and best is subjective.
I like G-96 and Balistol and Sweets 7.62 for a bore cleaner.

For areas that are subject to extreme temps I use synthetics (Amsoil) or silicone based (dielectric) grease. For the barrel (storage) a very, very light amount of Kroil. Cleaning products are a different category IMHO. Cheers.
 
Jet-Lube 12/34 has been my go-to lube & protectant for all of my guns since '70. I use it to clean the barrel bore from powder residue as well.
The stuff is ideal for use in very cold temps to -60f at least & in marine environments.
 
if cold weather is an issue, Burke's Gun oil. it's been tested to work down to -54C. Otherwise I use Slip 2000 EWL. Bore - boresnake it unless its a precision gun or has had a few hundred rounds through it. Bore Tech Eliminator or Wipe Out. Sweet's works well but stinks and JB bore paste occasionally. For heavy cleaning (like for AR's when we could use them) Slip 2000 725 cleaner/degreaser is great.
