What optic/sights for new ruger sr 22?

i just added an archangel stock to my 1022 and have been looking around for a red dot. not sure what your definition of cheap is, but the vortex strike fire is what i have been looking at getting. around 200 depending where you look and it comes with a 2x magnifier which has gotten mixed reviews, but from what i have read most people say you cant go wrong with the strikefire.

What are you planning to use it for? When I had my SR-22 i had a red dot on it, but realized it wasn't much fun that way. The SR-22 is too heavy to operate like an AR and move around with IMO, so a red dot is kind of pointless. Its much better on a bench or working off a tripod, which is why I'd rather go with a scope. Even something like a Millet 1-4x scope would be good, then you kinda get some of both worlds. But realistically a 2-7x or 3-9x would be just as good, so you can actually see the holes your shooting.
I would rather put a red dot on a stock 10/22 or one with a lightweight pistol grip stock, as it is much lighter this way and easier to handle than the heavy SR-22.

Second the sr-bench-22 idea.
3-9 and its awesome to 200 yards.

Aimpoint PRO is a good choice - it looks good and it will give you more accuracy than you will get from the SR22 anyway. A scope is not worth your trouble - from my experience the rifle just isn't that accurate.
I find the opposite to be true. These are surprisingly accurate rifles for a semi-auto. Thanks to the heavy. 0.75" barrel with a bit of trigger work they'll consistantly hit golf balls at 50m or further with an experienced shooter behind the trigger.
As for optics I ran a red dot for a while but didnt like it much. Then switched to a fixed 10X power cheapo 50 dollar scope which worked very well. Recently though I pulled the 2.5 - 10X bushnell elite 4200 off my m14 and shot that for a while. Heavy scope and heavy rifle combo but it shoots like a dream.
Go with a scope and you wont look back.

i was using a burris fullfield 3-9 X40 on mine for a while, then i switched to a leupold delta point. now i'm using both.
I went with the Bushnell zoom dot and magpul MBUS combo, and couldn't ask for a better setup for dumping a bunch of ammo in no time at all. Been thinking lately of seeing how well my sr22 would do as a tack driver. Which leads me to my next question, has anyone tried a magnifier with their red dot? If so is it worth it or should a guy just by a scope?

Canada Ammo has the VISM 10-24 'sniper' scope for $149. I thought it might be a reasonable value for the 10/22. Anyone used one? Ya, cheap is cheap, but Ive had pretty good luck with most of my ncstar and other cheap stuff when used gently (bench).

Has anyone on the board tried a Vortex Strikefire or Sparc on their SR 22? I am currently shopping for an optic for my rifle and hear good things about these.
