Performance wise there is ĺittle light between them. The Romeo5 and Crossfire are the lightest and smallest of the four. Find one on sale for $199,99 and you are golden.

I am not a fan of Vortex red dots. Mushy buttons and powered on for way too long before auto-shut off kicks in.
For me, I have a Holosun HS515GM on my Ruger PC Carbine. Had a 515CM on there but like the see through glass lenses of the GM, and I don't need the solar backup of the CM. I run 515GMs though I also have multiple Sig Romeo 5s (just standard, not the XR). Both the 515s and the Sig Romeo 5s have shake awake, which for me is a must have.
I also have one 503R and that one is pretty good but that's on my Renegade which I never use.

I got myself a PC9 and did not want to spend much on optics yet, so I got these 2 to try it out: Votatu VRD501 & VOTATU M3X from Amazon
Took to range over weekend and pretty impressed so far, I know it is a gamble, but had decent youtube reviews. I typically do not cheap out on scopes, but this is my first reddot ever and wanted to know if I will like it at all.
It held zero for first 200 round. will see how it operates overtime.

The gazelle the new Crossfire has a dial clck for off and brightness. Works great. I agree the press controls are mushy but the units work which is really the defining test. Their warranty like some others is hard to beat. I would not buy an optic without a solid warrant reputation.

+1 For the Romeo 5 here. Have one on one of my guns and love it so far.
100% agree. I had a Vortex Strikefire 2, and if I needed that in the scenarios you described, it would not be to my advantage. Having to turn it of manually even in the best of times is hit and miss.
Shake awake function is a must have, in these situations. Some have questioned whether it will actually turn on with movement. Between my Romeo 5s and my Holosun 503/515s, never had an issue once. I figure if I change my battery every year, regardless of how much life is left in it, I should be good to go all day, every day regardless of the situation.

I like a 1-4x LPVO with a 300 Blackout reticle.
Zeroed at 50 yards, and the next dots down correspond to about 100 and 125 yards, depending on ammo.
Leave it at 1x for CQB, while still able to ring 4" gongs boringly at distance when cranked.
Happily, it's very astigmatism friendly, unlike most dots out there.

I have the same unit on my NR GHM9 with a Burris AR-Tripler behind it. It's been a great combination so far.
Put a Vortex Sparc 2 on my base model PC9 yesterday. It was on sale at a few places for $199. Comes with a variety of bases for height adjustment. Stuck to the standard height base for now, Will be taking it to the range today to see how i like it in real life.
Got out to the range today. Got the PC9 with ref vortex spark II sighted in. Was able to hit 4” steel plates at 100 yds pretty comsitamtly shooting from a rest.

Love mine in gold dot. Easy to see on almost any background. Easier with my slight astigmatism than my Burris FastFire III. Have the 403 on a GSG-16 though, as I prefer my 2-10x Visionking FFP on my 9mm carbine.
