Looking for input on what types of optics you use on your slug gun for deer.

If this has been canvassed elsewhere, please point me in the right direction and accept my apologies.

Thanks in advance -

Thanks everyone.

I should have mentioned, it is for my remington express trio. The rifled barrel for it has a rail - no bead. The rail is raised a fair bit off the barrel so I can't really even just eyeball down it and shoot with enough accuracy.

I ran Leupold vxII 1-4x on mine. Also run Leupold fixed 4x on my muzzleloader and it works great.

I use a bsa deerhunter 2.5x20. Awesome little scope
I've also used some cheaper brands that couldnot stand up to 3.5" 00buck loads. I now use just the rifled sights with a fine red fiber optic front post
Leupold 4x would be a great choice however the bsa is a 1/4 the cost

Thanks everyone.

I also have a Remington 870 Express with a set of barrels, but my 20" rifled barrel came with rifle sights. I use a Weaver Converta-Mount which attaches to the receiver. Mine is the high version so I can look under it and use the iron sights if necessary.

The optic I have mounted is a Tasco 30mm RedDot. I haven't used it a lot so I don't whether it will last long but while it lasts it is effective to 100 yards.

i have a NEW $200 bushnell 3x9 or something on my rifled slug gun.. Missed a doe at 40 yards with it TWICE! Got home put it in the sage and sued my 870 with beads since.

After the second shot I sat back down as the scope must have been screwed even though I just sighted it in the night before! And hitting perfect groups upto 100yards. Oh well.

I have used both a red dot, and a 1.5-5, VXIII Heavy duplex. I prefer the Leupold by far..Much better in bright sunlight, and low light...

Leupold 1x14mm prismatic with illuminated circle plex reticle on an 870 with cantilevered slug barrel. i like the prismatic but wish it had the motion activated illumination system.
