What optics do you use on your slug gun?

On the Benelli M4 the ghost sight is so good.... but if i had to choose one, it would be one of my Sparc, they are just great... JP.

i have a NEW $200 bushnell 3x9 or something on my rifled slug gun.. Missed a doe at 40 yards with it TWICE! Got home put it in the sage and sued my 870 with beads since.

After the second shot I sat back down as the scope must have been screwed even though I just sighted it in the night before! And hitting perfect groups upto 100yards. Oh well.

Happened to me last year, luckily I caught it before I took it north with me as a back-up... make sure you loc-tite all the threads on your mounts, including the base. I had mine installed where I bought the scope and it came bore sighted, three shots later it was off the paper! tore it down and set it back up with loc-tite and its been solid since!

Cheapest red dot I can get my hands on. A 5 MOA dot is a huge nuisance on a rifle, but great for a 50 yard bush blaster. Both eyes open, point, and click.

On my Rem. 870 I have a Leupold. I think it is a 1.5 - 4x (can't be bothered running to the basement to check right now.) When in the woods I use the lowest setting and if covering a field then I go to the highest setting.

A nice high quality 4x scope. With a slug gun that is you really need. My slug gun has an older red field scope. Quality is important because those guns can kick.

Thanks everyone - lots of good suggestions here. I'm leaning towards a 1-4X Leupold - I have a 3-9X Leupold on my rifle and it has been kind to me so far.

I just got a doe tag in 73 so I'll report back later on the scope and hopefully a deer on the ground too.

Cheers -

I am using a Burris full field 2 with the ballistic plex reticle. It has been great. One of the reasons I got it is that it is versatile and will be great on a rifle to use at intermediate ranges in the future. I seem to recall it was above average eye relief, which I like for a rifled 12 gauge barrel.
