Hi guys, just bought a cz 858-2 and would like to paint the receiver mat black. was wondering what paint to use that would be durable?.Looking for a smooth finish. I see arma coatings.Anyone know if this is smooth?. Thanks

Armacoat is very smooth and goes on very thing given how durable it is
it says on the website that is OK for moving parts and actions and from what i have heard it is very good quality finish for its price if your looking for a high quality extremely durable finish for a good value defintly go with armacoat if your more budget orianted you can just use krylon spray paint or spray on bedliner (not good with moving parts) talk to murdoc or sendero on here as they are the Armacoat guys

I have used Arma-Coat and it is great to work with and durable. Yes it does dry smooth. My only advice would be to use a small gravity feed spray gun, it will give you better control and you will waste less product.

If you want a perfect job done, you can't beat duracoat over a parkarized finish done by Darrell B. Marsh Gunsmith in Fort st. John has a complete shop dedicated to parking and duracoating. He does a fantastic job and is a true craftsman.
Bead blast, parkarizing, duracoating and then baking in a proper oven.

Darrell maintains a large stock of Duracoat products and has a lot of experience with it.

Thanks guys. It sounds like dura coat is the way to go. I am toolmaker with sandblaster and oven access as well as an airbrush. I just need to buy the product. I've seen it on american sites for 12.99. But won't cross boarder without hazardous materials docs. Thanks guys When I get the job done I'll post pics

For a cheap finish, nothing I've encountered beats high heat enamel flat black BBQ paint. Available at Canadian Tire, self priming (read sticks well), cheap, highly durable, and heat resistant to a couple thousand degrees. Looks just like parkerizing. If you blast the 858's metal first to get a nice matte finish, it'll hold even better and look fantastic.

I never thought of bbq paint. I only want to do this once,I like the idea of the bedliner stuff but would like to keep the metal parts smooth. So I may try armacoat. Thanks guys.
