Hey there.

I'm going to be painting my M2A and the handguard of my M14 soon.
I'll be doing the M2A in OD Green, and the handguard brown.

What is a paint that you'd recommend I use?

I'm hoping for something I can obtain easily and locally (automotive, canadian tire etc)

something that is hopefully self-sealing (don't have to worry about it coming off on my hands haha)
and if possible, with a slight grit.

Does anything come to mind that meets these conditions?
here is the m14,

and for reference, the colour I'll be doing it again is OD Green, like this:

And the handguard in brown, for a final look hopefully being somewhere near these colours:

thanks so much, take care! :sniper:

KRYLON primer grey, 3 to 4 coats
KRYLON "camoflauge" number 48143, Olive- for stock
KRYLON "camoflauge" number 48142, Brown - for handguard
the O.D. is perfect for what you want, the brown is good but a bit darker than what you are after, both are matted finish. these spray paints will have a camoflauge pattern on the can and are different from other krylon paints.
a matte clear is good if you can find it. You may need the paint rep at the store to order the matte clear for you though.
i use Krylon extensively but would switch to duracoat IF it was easily and readily obtainable in Canada.... unfortunately this is not the case.
my stocks get finished with 3 coats primer, 3 to 5 coats paint, **3 coats matte clear (**if i can find it)

These paints are readily availlable at canadian tire and home hardware
heres a usgi stock in the krylon camo Olive

and here is my custom Ghost Cedar camo also done with krylon

this picture is terrible and doesn't look quite right, but rest assured, it turned out perfectly. im really happy with it.

I was really amazed.
I put on 3 coats for each side and one more light coat on the..middle I guess you'd say.
took my time,
it bonded so well, its as if the surface was made in this colour. really seamless.

next up is the brown handguard and we're golden!
