I'm trading a guy my Rem 700 for an AR project and this is my first AR, anyways

I'm getting the following

Assembled Stag Lower w/ M4 collapsible stock
Upper w/ Charging handle, no Bolt, 10.5" Barrel.

Also since this has no bolt does that mean technically i don't have to register until I get a bolt? (Is the FRT number registered to the upper/lower, or the Action itself?)

Thanks guys

Only the lower is registered on an ar15, so you will need to register it before taking possession, and from the description it sounds like all you need is the bolt, and probably the carrier, can be found in the EE, or at a dealer like questar or wolverine, and numerous others.

It would be wise to take rifle, bolt and carrier to a gunsmith to check headspace BEFORE you try it out to...

Congratulations on the new rifle! Enjoy!

Wouldn't the lower already be register, all you'd be doing is transferring it to your name?

This should be done by the seller, as part of the process. Technically once he gets his transfer papers he can go pick it up.

I think you'll also want to look at sights too... what works for him, may not work for you

registration

The lower will be the registered part but you would be wise to update the barrel lenth if it was reg'd as a frame/reciever only. Depending on who catches you transporting your comleted firearm you could be in for some headache. You supposedly have 30 days to notify them of the change...but that starts when???? A rather grey area of the legislation.
