Dont listen to them. H335 is the best.... its made for 223.
Another vote for Benchmark. Works great in my rifle....do some testing and see what your rifle likes
Would Benchmark be better suited to a 55 gr bullet as opposed to a 69gr bullet.. ?
I recommend the powder used to load 5.56x45mm rounds. Higginson's sells it. WC735. It's surplus powder. And $17 a lb.
I fall very much into the WC735 camp. W748 is another favourite.
I too use Varget for precision shooting but use WC 735 for plinking and playing.
WC 735 was made for milspec 5.56/.223 as well. In fact it is very close to H335. I tend to use loads that fall about in the middle between H322 and H335.
So I'm off to visit Higginson's Powder in Ontario this week. If I had to pick *one* powder for my .223 and buy it in bulk, what should it be? My rifle doesn't seem to like 55 gr bullets, so I'll probably be shooting 60 gr and up
I believe that this has been addressed. LOL!
^^Wow!! Now I know this shortage is bad!! I started dealing with Higginson's when Tom owned Ammomart (since the very early '80s'). This is the FIRST time I have EVER NOT been able to order my surplus powder!! I have never seen so many powders listed as out of stock, either.
Good luck to those who did not stock up last year...that would NOT be me. I got sufficient for my needs...
Yeah. How unbelievable is that?Is it true that Higginson's is out of WC735???
