So I am getting into reloading my first pistol rounds, I have been doing rifle for a little while now and am unsure what powder to get. I will be mainly doing 45ACP and maybe some 9mm down the road. I will probably buy a 8lb jug as you save more that way, so what is a good powder you guys have success with that isn't unobtanium?

PS : Sorry if this is beat to death, I tried the search function but the word "powder" is in about every thread haha.

Nice thing about 45ACP is that it works well with a lot of powders. You can also use Longshot, Titewad, Clays, TrailBoss, 800X, 700X amongst other powders.

I've used Bullseye, Unique, Universal and now using Titegroup for 45acp, 9mm and 357Mag.

N340 vihtavuori. I've used for .44mag, 45ACP, 9mm. It a higher end powder, burns perfect and clean. I've switch to it a few years ago. It's my favorite choice now.

Definitely Titegroup, have been using for years in 9mm, 40 S&W, 45ACP, 38 SPL

- Very economical (cheap to buy and takes very little)
- Somewhat cleaning burning
- Big flakes makes it easy to meter

And since I'm a cheap and lazy bastard who doesn't want to spend cash on extra powder measures nor want to re-adjust it when I switch calibers, I've found that :

9mm - 115 grains = 4.8 grains of Titegroup
40 S&W - 180 grains = 4.8 grains of Titegroup
45 ACP - 230 grains = 4.8 grains of Titegroup

:)

Between Bullseye & Titegroup which do you prefer ? for 45ACP

Been using Bullseye for everything but .41 AE for eons. Before you buy a keg, work up the load. No sense spending a pile of money only to find your pistol doesn't like that powder. Cast or jacketed bullet makes some difference too.

Been using 4.6gr of Titegroup behind a 230gr FMJRN. It meters well and burns nice and clean and cheap too! The drawbacks to TiteGroup is that it doesn't fill the case so it is possible to double load it if you're not careful and it's only 0.4gr difference from Hodgdon's recommended min to max load.

I find titegroup to be pretty dirty. I have some but am not fond of using it. My new favorite powder for 45, 9mm, 40sw, 10mm, 357sig and a few others is N350. Others I use and like are: Bullseye, Power pistol, longshot, WST, 800X.

Check thanks..

So it sounds like Titegroup and Bullseye are the most common, maybe along with N340.. Now I just have to find somewhere with it in stock at a reasonable price.
