You don't need CCI #34's for any semi-auto. They're a marketing gimmick for magnum primers. Regular large rifle primers will be fine. Full length resizing(every time), seating the primers properly and watching the case lengths is required.
Slamfires are caused by improperly seated primers, not the rifle. In any case, you'll have to work up a load for each rifle. No two will shoot the same ammo the same way.

I use IMR 4895 in all my .308 150's/165's as I shoot the same ammo in M14, Rem 600 and Rem 742. Works great for me.

i like win 748 with 165 gr bullets, imr-4064 second, good velocity and i think your brass will last longer useing w-748 as it is a much lower pressure load, works for my old 99 savage, wade
