What power scope for long range

8-32 variable lately, I find the variable much more useful through varying range conditions. As for the "sniper" rifle stuff, I can see where a fixed scope would be more desirable due to rough handling etc. I don't do much sniping (well, not that kind anyway), so I stick with variables. To address your question, the 20X would be the best choice for 1000M range, if you start with this, over time you will figure out the mirrage problems encountered and later want to move up to possibly the 36X or even 40X. All of this goes back to PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE. Enjoy the sport, Bill.
