should we carry?

Just got our business firearms lic. and we have the black rifle suppliers taken care of, now we need the bolt side of things :cool:

What do you suggest?

We are looking for 1 or 2 that others don't carry, or aren't readily available. (they have to be accurate as well :D )
 
Since you are posting in this forum, how about some aftermarket actions?

otherwise, all the main rifle brands are well taken care of and you are up against the big mail order houses and larger dealers here. Not sure if you want to have a race to the bottome?

How about some Russian stuff? Or more chinese stuff?

good quality rimfire actions/rifles might have a market?

Everybody has there opinion of what they would like to see someone stock. If I were in the business it would have to be something that would move. Trust me I know of some businesses that were certain HS Precision rifles would sell and they moved very slow for him. For the price ofalot ofthose so called super accurate customs one could have a real custom built for less money. I think there is to much I see, I like, I want, I have, then oh it is not what I wanted.

How many who have actually just said have this or that are prepared to buy one from Farmboy??????

PGW. I would gladly pay whatever extra, if any, it would cost for a PGW coyote or timberwolf than I would ever spend on a TRG, Blaser etc... Supporting a Canadian business with a fantastic reputation.

What incentive would there be to buy a PGW through anyone else but PGW? Adding a middle-man into the equation doesn't seem like something most would be willing to entertain.

Darren, whatever it is you decide to carry, just make sure you have a reasonable amount of stock on hand to actually make it worth your customer to do business with you. Saying your a dealer and actually being one are two different things. Telling customers that commonly sold items require a "special order" is a pain in the ass for everyone involved.

Don't try to be everything to everyone and over-extend yourself to the point where you can't satisfy your customers. I'd rather be well known for doing a few things exceptionally well, than doing everything half-assed.

two ways to look at this either for volume sales the Remington LE/MIL line is appealing or maybe a niche market like the DTA.

I personally like the DTA system as it seems to bridge the gap between the typical every day models and those speciality rifles it comes in 243, 308, 300WM and 338 Lapua. I would get public interest as these are not low cost items and having inventory chew up your liquidity could cause other problems.

P.S. i do like the idea of being a Canadian distributor of Mcree stocks.
 
Thats a pile of tough suggestions.

If you stock high end rifles built by a reputable builder, your problem will likely be why would someone pay the price for a custom gun if they dont get to spec it the way they want (unless they are happy with the existing build specs). When you get into that end people want certain chamber specs for certain bullets/brass, barrel length/contour, etc etc.

Any of the quality high end tactical bolt guns have Canadian dealers/distributors (AI, SAKO, DSR, etc etc).

Selling your lower end off the rack remy, savage, win etc is just like someone in a previous post said, you up against the big box stores.

There are dealers who carry borden, dakota, and so on. Ask them how many they bring in and sell. I wouldn't think that number is very high, nor would it be much higher if you acutally had the $6k + rifle sitting on hand waiting for them to buy it.

I think thats a tough subject to ponder. You don't want something your going to stock and make little to no profit on, yet it should be something middle of the road that the average Joe looking for something better than your off the shelfer Remy could get into.

Remington Dealers everywhere.....and someone already has been bringing in DTA already for awhile.

I like the idea of having your own O.S.T branded Rifle. Get a CDN company to make 2 or 3 rifles for you under contract to your specs.
 
DTA system seems to me as the best over all choice! Although Targets bring them in already, i would say that looks to be the most attractive when considering affordability!

Or DSR series which is very expensive, but so worth it!
