Looking to reload with H4831sc and 230 grn Hybrid target bullets. Any suggestions on which primer would work well with this? From what I have read so far some guys are saying I don't need a Federal 215 magnum primer, might be too much.

Thanks for any info.

I would agree with your friends. The CCI 250 primer is not as hot as the FED 215. You may even want to try a standard large rifle primer. If you do you may want to drop back a couple grs of powder. In my experience the mag primers have a slightly harder cup than the std primers, so you will see pressure signs on the std primers earlier.

If you are using it for hunting, use the F215's or CCI250s

you can load for the magnum primer and it will ensure reliable ignition in the cold - 0C and below.

If you need more Berger 30cal 230gr Target Hybrids, my shipment arrived and have a good supply.

Im using it for F class target shooting so would you recommend something different?

Ok, since we are here............

I personally have not had a primer fail in the cold. I have and use CCI 200's , BR2's and 215's.

What have your primer failures had for conditions in order to do so?

I haven't seen a need for a magnum primer in 300 WSM and have developed loads using probably 10 different powders, stand & mag primers....settled on Fed 210m and RL17... that being said if a mag primer shot better I would use it. So I guess try both and pick the one that prints better
