Greetings
I have been shooting rifles for years so have
The usual lubes solvent s
However just getting into pistols and i have a few on the way
What is best for that first removal of shipping slop
Thank you

Same stuff you use for your rifles ;)

im pretty sure people dont use 50.00 dollars worth of hoppes solvent to soak their gun shipping goop off
i was wondering like brake cleaner spray or something just never had to deal with packing grease
even my sks was pretty cosmoline free already ,bonus of supporting the cgn community when buying
but this time i bought a new norinco and every video has them coming in a goop dripping bag

Any gun lube works fine for pistol, I use CLP and never had a problem. People like to over complicate things...

What pistol did you buy?

im not talking about maintenance clean and lube i realize that is the same as rifles as my original post states.
I am refering to a new norinco comes in a sealed bag literally caked in shipping grease.that is what i am asking for suggestions on products to clean
I got a np22 from al
Thank you

Every gun I've gotten has been relatively gunk free but when I do feel the need to give them a thorough cleaning any more I use CLP's aerosol Gun Scrubber, a stiff bristled toothbrush or a brass bristled brush if really resistant to the cleaning, and a rag to wipe down. After the cleaning a bit of judicious application of oil and/or RIG.

What you need is 1 litre of synthetic 10w30 for lubrication.

And for a multi purpose solvent mix 1 litre each of these 4 ingredients. Acetone, ATF fluid, mineral spirits and kerosene. Congratulations you just made Ed's red. And you have a gallon of it which will probably last the rest of your life.

Don't bother with over priced solvents or lube.

I took my norinco apart and wiped it down and sprayed everything with g96. Reassembled an went to the range. I do this every time I come home after I use it. Functions perfect

If I prep a new Grand Power pistol for a customer, I wipe off the heavy preservative oil with plain cotton patches, then relube with simple unhyped 0W15 Castrol Syntec.

For routine cleaning, I swab carbon fouling with patches soaked in Hoppes #9, then relube with, you guessed it, Castrol.
For barrel cleaning, I push a patch soaked in Hoppes #9 through chamber to muzzle, then follow with a dry patch.
I never use a bore brush.

G96. Good for guns. Good for snooters. Good.

Also all experiments with eezox are positive so far. But lazy me loves G96.

Rem clean, hopps and what ever brand of gun oil was on sale is all i ever use, some brands of brake clean can be a bit harsh on some finish and any rubber or plastic parts.

BTW for anyone using automotive fluids you should know the additives they put in modern automotive fluids are poison and can be absorbed thru the skin which is why mechanics wear nitrile gloves when dealing with them. I myself have got blood poison 3 or 4 times over the last several years, 2 times was severe enough i had to keep an IV in my arm for a week at a time and go to hospital twice a day for IV medication as well as 7 days of pills. Also have a couple friends that now have acute allergic contact dermatitis and can break out in oozing ulcers on their hands and arms just from touching tools with oil and grease residue on them. Not saying it will happen but it can depending on the person and the products.

A plus for g96 is it smells so good I can clean my guns anywhere in the house and the wife is Ok with it. Also if you end up at a tailgate party after work and don't have time for a shower and change you can use it as cologne. Girls love it
