Curious to know what do most people here buy/subscribe to. I myself get a copy of fishing/hunting/outdoor magazine every month and I am looking for another publication that is more focused on military/defense firearms and shooting sports. I've thought of Guns & Ammo but would like to hear from others who many know more.

Thanks.

I usually buy Guns & Ammo, and their annuals (Book of the AR-15, Book of the Model 1911, Combat Arms, etc.) at the news stand, and Rifleshooter, since I found a convenience store on my drive home that carries it.

Also Look for:

- Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement

- Special Weapons for Police and Military

I find both of these magazines at my local Save On Foods..........

Small Arms Review is pretty good......although bit pricey and hard to find in my area.........

None. Guns & Ammo is nothing but articles pushing the products of their advertisers. And endless repeats of the same articles. As are any of the Petersen gun rags. The writers can't bite the hand that feeds 'em.
Certainly won't pay over $10 for any American gun rag.
Small Arms Review isn't a Petersen publication and deals with U.S. Class 3(mgs, etc) issues, Stateside. Have a look here. $69.95US for a 'foreign' subscription though. http://www.smallarmsreview.com/Sample_Articles.htm

I used to read guns & ammo many years ago, when the stash of a couple hundred mags was downsized at the gun club. Provided many hunting season evenings of entertainment at the camp, and afte rthat, started a heck of a lot of campfires :) I'm not in love with ars or 1911s though, so now, it seems kinda pointless to me. Regardless, I can't find it anywhere. Or anything useful, for that matter. Fishing magazines out the wazoo, but the only regular publicationi can find is soldier of fortune, which i can't stand to read. I'm not into black rifles/shotguns/pistols and all that tacticool crap.

The one publication i have managed to find at wal mard, of all places, is Predator Extreme. Decent magazine, covers all kinds of predator hunting (the only kind of hunting around here, from what i've gathered, unless you're into waterfowl, which i'm not :) ). Sections on airguns and calls, lots of good info. They still seem a little biased towards ar's, but oh well...i have to take the good with the bad i guess. Speaking of bad, there's only 6 issues a year. So when i do manage to get one (the store brings in maybe 2 copies i think), i read it in a day, then have to wait 2 months for the next one :(

I'll buy G&A if the articles seem decent (I'll always give it a quick flip-through) and the annuals are usually decent, but I don't much care for the Book of the AR15 (too much of the same tricked-out rifles, my taste in AR's is pretty simple). Rifle Shooter I find to be fairly informative and entertaining

I read A LOT of gun mags...

Combat Handguns, SWAT, Tactical Weapons, Special Weapons Military & Police, Guns & Weapons for Law Enforcement and Guns & Ammo.

My favoruite is SWAT. I find they have the best coverage and most honest reviews without too much BS. Least favourite and I will not be renewing when out is Combat Handguns.

Regards,

Noticed most of the responders are outside of Bantario. I'm unfortunately stuck here for now. I've been to several magazine shops around TO and dropped by a Chapters Indigo once but couldn't find any of the publications mentioned.

Will have to look online but it sucks that most publications put so much premium for orders outside of the US.

US mailbox = most common subs under $10 per year. Keep using the box for parcels, or change the mailing address online to your Canadian address

Chapters won't carry gun mags. I was able to find guns and ammo at CTC in Ottawa, but only on Coventry Rd, the other locations don't have mags. Try magazine newstand type stores, you may have to look around.

Good for you. I've been to several kiosks and shops but they don't carry any either. CTC around here don't carry magazines. They have been :kickInTheNuts: by the mayor most have an anemic hunting section. Looks like I will have to get them online :ar15:
