Hi again CGN !!

OK my journey of learning shotgun reloading continues and Im hoping I can safely learn more ...

My recipe for pump is light. Mainly cuz I want to have my powder go as far as it can. Im using this load for steel plate & paper shooting no further than 12m.

Red DOT powder: 18.9g
Primers: CCI 209

1300fps @ 10,400psi (Alliant data)

range pick up 12g 2-3/4 hulls ( Winchester AA )
WAA12SL 12g Wads
1oz no.7 lead shot & 1oz Lee SLug

I noticed when using these loads in my semi Benelli M4 & Mossberg 930 that it sometimes does not leave the bolt open on the last round.

I want to move up to 19.8g or even 20.9g so the bolt will stay open while minimizing recoil. There is no data for this increase in powder however.

Will 19.8g be enough to cycle the bolt open or should I goto 20.9g?
What is the fps and psi for this ?

And ohh BTW: is this SAFE ??????????????????

Thanxs in advance !

the load you are linking to uses cci mag primers, so you are likely well under the psi rating. one of the reasons i don't like alliant powders is they never list max or min loads.

anyhow i would personally just load some shells (5 each) at 19.5, 20, 20.5 and 21 grains each. it's harder to tell pressure signs, so a crony is ideal.

just curious, does it cycle your MPA shotgun? i was at target sports last week with some guests shooting win low recoil buckshot and mine had some issues cycle the low recoil stuff.

OK i just got my MP-A back from the smith - it was fouled up and the bolt had an issue.

I will get back to you as soon as the weather breaks so I can head up to the range and test the shotgun and the 12g re-loads.
